St. Teresa's Hospital
A long, 4'x10' Luminous SkyCeiling provides the spacious and calming presence of a summer sky in the linear accelerator suite at St. Teresa's Hospital in Hong Kong.
The preferred installation location, directly over the patient, wasn't possible in this retrofit installation due to the presence of services above the hung ceiling. Yet, this alternate location for the SkyCeiling, at the patient's foot, has proved to be a very effective.
We are accustomed to experiencing the sky directly, looking at it, and peripherally. Positioning this long SkyCeiling where it can be perceived both ways, makes it an important presence in the radiotherapy suite, where patients receiving cancer treatment are especially receptive to the the soothing, biophilic presence of open sky.
